Watty Thompson

“A reckoning of contemporary Australian country folk and baroque bush rock ’n’ roll” - Post to Wire

Enigmatic powerhouse, Barmah-born Watty Thompson is emerging as a striking and entirely unique performer-songwriter in Australia’s storytelling tradition.

A little bit country, a little bit folk, and 100% heart, Watty’s high-energy sets impress upon those in the room an increasingly rare skill: the ability to lay bare and embrace the highs and lows of everything that makes us human.

Leah Senior

Leah Senior silences audiences with her ethereal vocals and unique lyricism. Hailed by critics as a divine masterpiece, her most recent album The Passing Scene (2020, Flightless) is a charming expansion on her previous two records lilting between springtime baroque-pop and 70s folk.

Leah’s captivating live performances have seen her supporting international artists including King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Jessica Pratt, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and Bedouine. Leah’s vocals have the clarity of British folk diviner Sandy Denny whilst her songwriting style ranges from contemplative folk to a playfulness likened to Paul McCartney.

Clunes Town Hall - 98 Bailey Street, Clunes

Adults $35 | Children $17

When we walked into the Clunes Town Hall a few months ago we couldn’t believe what we had found.

The grandest of gold-rush-era buildings - courtroom to the right (supposedly haunted), long-abandoned council offices to the left and in the middle, the Clunes Town Hall, complete with one of the most extraordinary, intricately-painted stages this side of the Princess Theatre.

Part Frederick McCubbin, part Sound of Music, the Clunes Town Hall stage is a rare thing of beauty, and we can’t wait for bush balladeer Watty Thompson and folk songstress Leah Senior to tread its boards on Saturday afternoon.
